What You’ll Do

Primark is seeking a strategic and commercially aware tax professional to lead indirect tax and fiscal compliance across our global operations, with a key focus on the rollout of our new POS system (GPOS). This role blends technical tax expertise, regulatory insight, and project leadership to ensure our systems and processes meet evolving VAT, sales tax, and fiscal requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

You’ll work cross-functionally to design technology solutions, enhance the indirect tax data environment, mitigate compliance risks, and ensure fiscal and indirect tax requirements are seamlessly embedded into business processes and systems across all markets

• Lead the indirect tax workstream for the Global POS (GPOS) programme, ensuring indirect tax compliance requirements are embedded within solution design and deployment, and ensuring robust alignment with multi-jurisdictional regulatory landscapes.
• Drive indirect tax and fiscal requirements gathering, risk mitigation and governance activities to support successful GPOS programme delivery and long-term indirect tax compliance.
• Ensure GPOS and related systems, processes and data support accurate indirect tax reporting, filings, payments and audit readiness.
• Partner with Technology, Finance, Legal and external vendors to establish a robust global fiscal compliance framework across multiple jurisdictions.
• Lead the transformation of indirect tax data across all key systems and reporting capabilities, improving data quality, reconciliation processes and reporting accuracy.
• Identify and implement opportunities to standardise, automate and enhance indirect tax reporting processes and controls across the business.
• Oversee indirect tax governance, fiscal controls and vendor management, ensuring effective monitoring and risk mitigation.
• Promote continuous improvement by leveraging technology, automation and data analytics to strengthen tax compliance, controls and operational efficiency.

What You’ll Bring  

We want every person in our organisation to feel like they’re making a key contribution. Here are some of the experiences and skills you’ll need for the role:

• Qualified tax professional with 6+ years' post-qualification experience.
• Strong organisational of EU VAT principles and how they apply to transactional data and controls.
• Experience in data quality and governance, finance systems or indirect tax operations.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex tax issues.
• Proficient in Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, or comparable data analysis tools.
• Commercially aware, detail-orientated and highly organised.
