What You’ll Do as an ER Advisor
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
  • Employee Relations Case Management: Act as a trusted advisor, providing expert guidance on a wide range of ER issues including disciplinary, grievance, performance, sickness, and flexible working. Partner with managers and stakeholders to drive fair, timely, and legally compliant outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication: Build strong relationships with Retail Directors, Area Managers, and Store Management. Communicate clearly and confidently, influencing and coaching at all levels to ensure consistent ER practices.
  • Policy & Compliance: Stay up to date with employment legislation and support the review and development of ER policies, procedures, and templates. Ensure all documentation is accurate, objective, and legally sound.
  • Training & Capability Building: Deliver ER and employment law updates through written communications and live learning sessions. Contribute to the design and delivery of training to upskill management teams.
  • Operational Excellence & Reporting: Support people-related projects such as organisational design and change management. Maintain accurate ER trackers, contribute to audits, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Risk Management & Legal Support: Assist with high-profile cases, liaise with legal counsel and external bodies (e.g. Acas), and attend employment tribunals when required. Use insights to reduce risk and enhance future ER practices.
What You’ll Bring

  • Experience & Knowledge: Proven background in Employee Relations within a fast-paced, multi-site environment, with strong knowledge of employment law and hands-on case management experience.
  • Influencing & Coaching: Confident in coaching and influencing managers at all levels, demonstrating credibility and sound judgment in complex ER matters.
  • Communication & Relationship Building: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and communicate with professionalism and discretion.
  • Resilience & Prioritisation: Thrives under pressure, able to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and remain resilient in challenging situations.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: A collaborative team player who contributes positively to team goals and supports cross-functional working.
  • Technical & Data Awareness: Strong ICT skills with a proactive and conscientious approach to data privacy and compliance.
