What You’ll Do as a Payroll Compliance & Governance Specialist - International

The Compliance & Governance Specialist will ensure the payrolls under their remit are delivered by the payroll team consistently and within the internal and external controls.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • GDPR Champion for Payroll
  • Maintenance and investigation of items raised on the payroll risk register
  • Support the review payroll processes and making recommendations to ensure processes are compliant and have sufficient checks and controls
  • Assist with training and of the payroll/P&C store teams on GDPR.
  • Obtain and review system access logs for approval
  • Review SOPs/Procedural documentation to ensure the teams are being compliant with local legislation/GDPR.
  • Build knowledge on the document retention periods required for the countries you support
  • Support the payroll teams in completing Internal audits and documenting resolutions.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a positive customer service focus to both internal and external payroll customers
  • Work cross functionally with other departments.
  • Assist with special projects related to the payroll function from a Compliance and Governance Perspective.
  • Preparation of Periodic reporting
  • Maintain the Global Retention Calendar, liaising with payroll teams/providers to ensure the calendar is adhered to and archiving completed.
  • Assist with gathering information for the reporting and investigation of potential data breaches within Payroll.
  • Ensure Periodic reviews of Risk & Control Matrices and Risk Registers are being performed by Payroll teams
  • Gathering supporting documentation from Payroll Providers on Document storage
  • Other duties as may be required

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years payroll experience is required
  • Excellent knowledge of GDPR/Data Protection practices
  • Understanding of Cyber Security practices
  • Experience of Internal Controls and/or SOX framework is beneficial
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving
  • Demonstrable experience of working to deadlines and performing duties under pressure.
  • Microsoft Excel knowledge to at least Intermediate level.
  • Ability to see through tasks fully with minimal support ensuring team is kept on board and fully informed
  • Strong analytical ability and excellent communication skills.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, possessing the ability to effectively prioritise projects and deliverables whilst meeting deadlines
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills, ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise work schedule for self and team and work within agreed timescales.
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to analyse and interrogate high volumes of data as well as demonstrating an ability to focus on higher level overview.
  • Proven ability in managing sensitive matters whilst ensuring all Primark information remains confidential to the business.
  • Be a collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Proven ability in developing effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Operates with a high level of integrity, diplomacy, tact and professionalism.
  • Sound judgement
