A Systems Project Accountant plays a crucial role at the intersection of finance, project management, and systems implementation. The purpose of the role is to ensure that our retail systems, seamlessly integrate with our financial systems. This role is critical in ensuring financial accuracy and improved transaction reporting from tills to finance

What You’ll Do as a Systems Project Accountant

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, IT, Retail Operations, and Vendors) to define financial testing requirements and scenarios.
• Ensure accurate mapping of sales, stock, and cash flow data from POS to financial systems
• Develop, document, and execute end-to-end finance-related test cases for the new till system.
• Support the design of financial controls, reconciliation processes, and audit trails within the system.
• Verify till transactions (e.g., sales, refunds, discounts, promotions, cash handling, payment types) are correctly captured and reflected in financial systems.
• Liaise with the Tax team to ensure accurate tax (VAT, SUT, etc.) application and reporting through the till system.
• Test financial interfaces and reconciliations between the till system and the general ledger or ERP.
• Work with development teams to resolve finance related defects.
• Validate compliance with accounting policies, controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Support UAT, SIT, and regression testing phases from a finance perspective.
• Provide support for go-live readiness, including reconciliation and reporting validation.
• Document test outcomes and provide clear feedback to stakeholders.
• Provider of core support and advice, articulating finance requirements and highlighting key considerations.

What You’ll Bring

• 3–7 years of experience in finance/accounting, with a focus on supporting systems implementations, upgrades or rollouts.
• Professional accounting qualification.
• Experience supporting or managing financial modules during system rollouts (project costing, billing, fixed assets, etc.).
• Experience in finance testing roles for POS or ERP (e.g. SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) system implementations
• Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles, including revenue recognition, reconciliations, and tax.
• Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Awareness of compliance frameworks (e.g. IFRS, SOX, GAAP).
• Hands-on experience with major ERP platforms.
• Understanding of system configuration, workflows, and data structures.
